When I moved from Chicago two years ago, I was sad I wouldn’t be able to witness the beauty that fall brings to the Midwest.

In my search for something similar to home, I stumbled across Marian Bear Park and the hidden gem that it is in San Diego.

First off, I didn’t realize that such a place so close to the ocean even existed. Secondly, there is so much variety at this location given that in total the park is 467 acres – that’s a whole lot of scenery.

Let’s talk about the pros from a photoshoot standpoint:

1. Scenery: There are different locations where you can get different sceneries.
2. Parking: Parking is very very easy.
3. Spacious: The park is so big that it’s rarely ever busy or more so crowded.
4. Fall Foliage: It’s nearly impossible to find Fall Foliage in San Diego. So if you’re looking for Fall Foliage in San Diego, you’re welcome 🙂

Now with every pro, there are some cons. And luckily this location has rare cons:

1. GPS: Depending on the day, your GPS can take you at any one of their locations which could stink when it comes with meeting up with clients. How to avoid this? Drive to the location and pin it on your phone, save, and if you’re a photographer, share that pin with clients.
2. Snakes: Though I’ve never seen any here, they do exists and there are snake holes. Make sure to be careful where you step and if you can, wear boots.
3. Poison Ivy: There’s poisonous plants you need to watch out for so if you have little ones or pets, be careful when you’re nearby leaves or bushes.
