I first want to start off by saying- if Motherhood is going great for you during quarantine, girl what’s your secret? Also, you most likely won’t find much value for how to temporarily escape motherhood during quarantine but you’re more than welcome to continue reading.

Ok, so now we’re all on the same page, great!

This past Mother’s Day, one of my gifts was a set of three bath bombs. The scents were lavender, coconut, and possibly pomegranate? I honestly can’t remember the last one. I’ve never used bath bombs before so I didn’t know what the whole hype was about.

But ever since my gift arrived, Chuck has been in my ear about taking some me time and trying out those bath bombs. Seriously, how did I get so lucky?

Per usual, I refused and continued in my quarantine misery.

If you have little ones at home and quarantine life hasn’t been easy, then you KNOW what I’m talking about. No, motherhood doesn’t suck, it’s just hard, and sometimes WE NEED A BREAK! Especially right now.

But where do you go when there’s nowhere to go? Now that’s a great question and I have the answer (at least one option for ya)!

I honestly think this funk started catching up to me to the point where I was visibly feeling sick. Chuck had enough and said, “That’s it, I’m getting your bath started!”

I smiled, not really knowing what I was getting myself into but appreciative that someone was caring for me after not having the energy to care for myself.

If you don’t have someone to do that for you, then you’re in the right place. Because I want you to know that if you feel like no one cares, I do! Which is why I’m even sharing this.

So then, something life changing happened (temporarily of course) but wow, did it feel amazing.

I’ll let you in on my dirty little secret in hopes that YOU won’t fight the feeling and give yourself that break you so deserve.

Fantasize with me for a bit, can you imagine ONE WHOLE HOUR without the kids without leaving the house? Here’s what to do. Don’t skip any steps or you’ll miss out on the whole experience:

  • Run the hot water
  • Pour yourself a drink
  • Grab a book
  • Put on some low jazz music
  • Drop that bath bomb
  • And ESCAPE
  • * Bonus: Add some house plants to your scenery (some plants love humidity so that’s a plus)

And there I was losing myself into this world of a hostage negotiation (the novel I was reading), sipping my drink, feeling the warm water caress my toes, indulging in the soothing scent of lavender from my bath bomb, and the best part (sorry, not sorry) no kids yelling “MOMMMMMMM”.

This seems pretty simple, I know. I too was shocked. But I promise, once you do this, you’ll feel 1,000x better. So much so that you might find that smile again.

After my me time, I got dressed, went downstairs and hugged my babies. Hugged them because even though I was having some me time for an hour, I missed them. And that feeling of missing them felt soooo good. I had an entire hour to myself and didn’t feel guilty.

Getting a break to ourselves during quarantine is tough, I know it! So ask your partner for help, take advantage of that nap time, or bed time, run that water, and mama, enjoy some you time.

After all, you deserve it!

xx,
